Note-Taking Skills
Use the TASSEL strategy when taking notes during a lecture:
Try not to doodle Arrive at class prepared Sit near the front Sit away from friends End daydreaming (if you catch yourself daydreaming, correct your posture, and write down whatever the teacher is saying) Look at the teacher The CUES strategy is also helpful for note-taking during a lecture: Cluster together 3-6 main points of the lecture Use teacher cues to record ideas: number cues (e.g., there were three elements involved); important cues (e.g., this is very important to remember) Enter important vocabulary Summarize quickly and whenever possible |
